Empanada is a thin layer of dough filled with sweet or savoury stuffing and then cooked in the oven or deep fried. Its name come from the Spanish word “empanar” which means to enclose something in dough to be baked later. This general sense of a dish arrived in the Americas with the Spaniards and was adopted all over Latin America. What makes the Empanada Valluna different from all its other relatives from Colombia and Latin-American? its wrapping dough is made of corn instead of that wheat flour, the stuffing is mainly beef and potato seasoned with the traditional “Hogao”, and deep-fried which makes it crispy and delicious
